Un uomo muore improvvisamente, lasciando dietro di sé Jeff, il suo compagno, ed Andrea, un italiano con cui chattava su Internet. Jeff avverte Andrea della morte di Mark; Andrea risponde esprimendo la sua sorpresa ed il suo dolore. Quasi per capriccio, i due continuano a scriversi e a conoscersi. Alla fine si incontrano, ed il loro scambio di email si trasforma in una serie di conversazioni più intime e personali. Parlano dei loro rispettivi paesi, dei propri impieghi, delle proprie famiglie, delle proprie vite. Ma soprattutto, parlano di Mark. Quella che è iniziata come una tragedia che ha messo in contatto due sconosciuti che arrivano da parti opposte del mondo, si trasforma in un’amicizia pienamente realizzata che potrebbe cambiare per sempre le loro vite.
A man dies very unexpectedly and leaves behind two men: Jeff, his best friend and Andrea, an Italian he’s been corresponding with online. Jeff informs Andrea of Mark’s passing; Andrea writes back to express his shock and sympathies. On a whim, they continue their correspondence and a rapport grows between them. They eventually meet, where they extend their email exchanges into more personal and intimate conversations. They talk about their respective countries, their jobs, their families, their lives. Mostly, they talk about Mark. What began as a tragedy that linked two strangers from different ends of the world becomes a deeply realized friendship that may change their lives forever.

Mark, Jasper e Lily, poco più che ventenni, sono amici dai tempi della scuola. Mark è gay e vive con Lily, Jasper è etero ed in procinto di sposarsi. Ancora vagamente legati dalla passata amicizia, i tre, cinici e disincantati, si ritrovano nel quartiere di Castro a San Francisco per le celebrazioni di Halloween. Quando l’enorme massa di persone mascherate e festose non riesce a divertirli, i tre cominciano a cercare uno sfuggente personaggio che potrebbe fornire loro dell’ecstasy. La ricerca è intervallata dai ricordi astratti di una gita scolastica in campeggio fatta dai tre a Lost Coast, località nel nord della California, durante la quale Mark e Jasper furono coinvolti in una relazione sessuale che Mark non ha mai superato, e che Jasper non ha mai ammesso.
Mark, Jasper and Lily are high school friends now in their early twenties. Mark is gay, living with Lily, while Jasper is straight and soon to be married. A cynical and bitter trio barely connected by their past friendship, they reunite for the annual public Halloween celebration in San Francisco's Castro district. When the huge crowds of costumed revelers fail to entertain them, they begin a quest to find an elusive acquaintance who might provide them with some ecstasy. This quest is interwoven with an abstracted remembrance of a high school camping trip the three friends took, to the Lost Coast, a lush wilderness in northern California, during which Mark and Jasper were involved in a sexual relationship that Mark never got over, and Jasper never acknowledged.

Oltre ad essere la seccatura maggiore del fratello, ha una storia tormentata con Michal, il suo capo. Omer is about to hit a milestone; his 30th birthday. Like many his age, he hasn’t found himself. Instead he chooses to loose himself among the stacks of books at the local library, where he works. From time to time he goes on blind dates. He meets Danny on one of his dates. 20 years old and full of enthusiasm, Danny dreams of becoming a dancer. Shirley, Omer’s little sister, has her own problems. Aside from being Omer’s greatest annoyance, she is in an unconventional relationship with Michal, her boss. Just when it seems that Omer has completely lost his spark and all seems lost, enter Ronen, the handsome journalist who ignites the flame Omer has been seeking. Everyone is hoping for a change. They are waiting for the light. The light that will thaw their frozen hearts.

Ciascuno ha la sua teoria, i suoi pudori, la sua etica, i suo divieti. Secondo me, un film, come ogni opera d’arte, può aiutare l’artista a estrarre la parte nascosta del suo mondo interiore, a affermare la sua vera natura e non quello che la società si attende da lui. In the mid-nineties, a young writer, victim of Aids, wants to ensure from the beyond that his friend receives a camera, with supernatural powers. He hopes that this will revive his friend's will to live, connect with him and look after the company he keeps. “What should filmmakers show and what should they not show? Each one has their own theory, modesty, ethics, bans. In my opinion a film, like any work of art, can help the artist to bring out the hidden part of his inner world, to affirm his real nature and not what society expects of him.
